A Deerfield man is currently in the Dane County Jail after he attempted to run from Dane County Sheriff’s deputies this morning.
At 7:15 am, deputies were called to 550 Westgate Court in the Village of Cambridge after Julio C. Alatorresanchez, age 40, rammed his vehicle into a closed car wash door. He was still at the car wash when deputies arrived. As they made contact with him, deputies proactively placed a tire deflation device under his vehicle in the event he would try to drive away. When deputies asked him to step out of his vehicle to perform field sobriety tests, he drove away, causing one of his tires to go flat.
Mr. Alatorresanchez led deputies on a short pursuit westbound on Highway 12, but with only three good tires, he eventually stopped and ran into a nearby hay field. A perimeter was created, and deputies used UAVs to quickly find the suspect in the field and take him into custody.
Mr. Alatorresanchez is currently being held on tentative charges of eluding, resisting, and operating while intoxicated. An additional charge of criminal damage to property for the car wash door is pending.
