MADISON – Dane County Executive Melissa Agard released the following statement after Governor Tony Evers announced he would not seek a third term.

“I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Governor Tony Evers for his decades of dedicated service to the people of Wisconsin. For six years as Governor and ten years before that as our State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Evers has led with integrity, compassion, and an unshakable commitment to doing what is best for kids, families, communities, and our local governments. His leadership has strengthened our schools, protected access to reproductive and health care, supported working families, and helped guide our state through some of the most challenging moments in recent history.

I respect Governor Evers for the honesty he has brought to public service throughout his career. I have no doubt he will continue to contribute his experience and voice to the values and priorities we share here in Wisconsin.

On behalf of Dane County, I thank Governor Evers and First Lady Kathy Evers for their service, their kindness, and their partnership. I wish them all the best in the next chapter.”
